"Child-like"

Today, I babysat a little girl named Emma and her brother Finn for part of the day. It was a beautiful day outside, and while Finn was napping, Emma and I decided to go outside to draw with some sidewalk chalk in the sun, and we proceeded to have a conversation while we doodled away. I almost forgot I was talking to a 2 and a half year old for a minute...she's such a little adult. When I asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up, she replied with "Winnie the Pooh". And when I asked why, she frankly said, "because he always plays with his friends," as if I should have known better than to ask. But, it made me realize how children just have a genuine adoration for life and see everything so clearly...and I wish I could live life a little more that way. In her eyes, the most important thing is friendship and spending time with the ones you love. She can't see anything better than to grow up and be surrounded by friends everyday. What a simple concept. It really made me think. So, for those of you who I don't tell enough, I truly treasure your friendships and I'm glad you are part of my life.
